Just make a portal that takes you specifically to your house mini dungeon style, like Shaky said. Just have a decoration around it like the entrance to some gated community. Next to it you can have a nap that will allow you to enter the name of the person whose house you want to go to, or even add a Random option.
Imo users should be able to decide whether their houses can be public or private, so that people can take tours of other people houses. Or, like Take said, you can set it to private when you have your little e-parties and stuff. Perhaps every house can have a gate nap in front of the house that will allow you to toggle this preference by opening and closing it. Deploy this system to major towns: Honeys, Orbits, Loafer, and you got yourself a housing system.
And on top of all that, an additional idea: To avoid clustering location diversity, the prices of real estate in specific areas can be high or low depending on the amount and value of the existing homes. So if you really want your house to be in Honeys, one of the main social centers of the game cheap Maple Story mesos where everyone will want their luxurious mansion homes, you may have to fork over far more cash than you would in Orbits or Ludicrous. Just like in real life.
